I described in a previous Blog the adaptive equipment my wife uses for eating and meal preparation. She uses a cutting board almost daily like the one pictured above. This cutting board is 12 inches square. It is made of high density polypropylene plastic. It does show the cut marks. Other than the discoloration from the cut marks it holds up well. There are three aluminum (won’t rust) nails that extend up from the cutting board to hold vegetables while cutting them. There are also two four inch Bumpers that are located in the front corner of the cutting board in an L shape. This provides a location to butter toast etc. by placing the toast inside the L.

Among Adaptive Eating Aids: Adaptive Cutting Boards there is also a type known as the Swedish Adaptive Cutting Board. This cutting board has 9 nails that are smaller than the three nails in the HDPE cutting board. This cutting board also has a vise that can hold food items and also jars etc. Both of the cutting boards use suction cups under the board to secure the cutting board to the table. One of the things to look for in cutting boards is good suction cups that won’t separate from the board. We will soon be adding cutting boards to our online Adaptive Eating Aids Shop. We will make sure the cutting boards offered in our shop are of the highest quality.

Some people like the look and feel of a wooden cutting board. Adaptive Cutting Boards with nails and bumper sections are also available in wood.
